I’ve been waiting for it to reopen since april this year but it looks very much like it is closed for good during the day and hosting events run by the film cooperative in the evenings.

Side Cafe Christmas Party

I got an unexpected invitation yesterday lunchtime to return to the Side Cafe for their customer and staff christmas party.
I managed to get there for eight o’clock and the place was buzzing and crammed with a hundred plus of the regulars and anyone associated with the side.

The entertainment for the evening included an acoustc duo upstairs and a showing of an old Laurel and Hardy classic in the cinema downstairs.
I left a couple of hours later having drunk two glasses of house white wine with a big grin on my face and full of the joys of the winter solstice festval.

Flynns Bar and Diner

Flynns is a deceptive bar on the quayside between the law courts and the tyne bridge. The bar consists of 3 levels. The 2 smaller levels act as a dining area and Flynns provides a range of well priced breakfasts and lunches. I’m patial to the full english which as of today is priced at £5.50 including coffee. This compares with Blakes up at the monument where the breakfast is also £5.50 including either tea or coffee.

Bob Trollop on the Quayside

Side Cafe

Ive been a regular at the side cafe for over 2 years now and am attracted to its cosmopolitan atmosphere and range of entertainment. Regular Gigs, Good movies and good coffee should be enough to keep most people happy

The music theme downstairs in the cafe tends towards singer songwriters, blues, based rock classics, folk and country whereas upstairs the live music ranges from folk, jazz & blues
